We Work with All Insurance Companies, FOR You

auto mechanic repair

We understand, getting into an accident can be stressful, and puts a huge burden on your day to day lives. Scotts' works with all insurance companies by submitting a finalized repair plan with photo documentation, to get your vehicle back to pre-accident condition. After filing a claim, feel free to bring in your preliminary estimate from your insurance company on what they've paid you so far, that is considered our starting line. If your insurance company asks you to provide them with an estimate and photos from the shop of your choice, we can take care of that as well. For your convenience, we are a direct repair shop for Liberty Mutual and Safeco, but we can take care of your claim, on your behalf, with every company.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What should I do if my insurance company tells me I have to use there direct repair shop to get my vehicle fixed , in order to get a lifetime warranty on the repairs?

Legally, you have the right to choose which repair shop you want to fix your vehicle. It is illegal for an insurance company to steer you to their shops. By NYS law, your insurance company is required to work with the shop of your choice. And of course, we also offer you, our customer, a lifetime warranty on the repairs we perform to your vehicle.

  • Should I report the accident to my insurance company or just pay for it out of pocket? Will my rates go up?

That is a question only you can answer based on a number of personal and financial factors. There are many things that can come into play with your rates going up, or staying the same, if you’ve gotten into an accident. (Other recent accidents, traffic tickets, DWI etc.) You can always call your Agent, and ask them, without actually filing the claim. They are there to help you, and cannot process a claim on your behalf. If we are able to write a completion repair plan on the damage, without taking the vehicle apart, you can ask them if X amount would change your rates. Going through insurance, or paying out of pocket, either way we are here to help.

  • What is a Supplement?

A supplement is an addition to the original estimate, due to finding hidden damage during the disassembly process. Supplements are a normal occurrence, and adding to the original estimate to finalize the repair plan is often needed. Especially when we are starting with a photo estimate from your insurance company. If we find additional damage, we will notify the insurance company with a complete repair plan for approval. Typically they respond within 2-3 business days. Once everything is approved and parts are ordered, then we can give you a proper completion date.

  • Do I need another estimate from the shop if I already have an insurance estimate?

No, you do not. What the insurance company wrote is what they’ll be paying you for. We will need a copy of that estimate for our records, and our technician, so he can compare the estimate at the vehicle during tear down. If we find additional damage, we will know what they did/did not already pay for. This helps with clarifying what your payment due upon completion is, (first insurance payment and deductible), and what the insurance company still needs to pay for to make the repairs complete. They will then pay the shop directly for anything additional required for completing the repairs properly, to get the vehicle back to you as quickly and efficiently as possible.

  • How can 2 estimates be different from one another?

Differences in repair estimates are common. If you are not sure why one estimate is different from another, we can quickly glance over both estimates to tell you why. Different parts selected, repair versus replace, different labor rates, all necessary procedures required and accounted for, there are many reasons why the estimates may be different. We strive to get the vehicle back to pre-accident condition, to do so we follow all OE manufactures recommendations and procedures. We try our best to write the most accurate repair plan up front, so theirs little, if nothing to add later on.

  • What are OEM, Aftermarket, and Recycled Parts?

OEM – Original Equipment Manufactured; straight from your vehicle’s factory supplier.

Aftermarket – A part copied from the original factory supplier, and manufactured by a 3rd party supplier. These are often certified parts with a lifetime warranty. Non-certified aftermarket parts are available too, but do not always fit properly as the OEM would.

Recycled/Used Part – An original factory part taken off a vehicle that is no longer drivable. The part typically comes from a vehicle that was totaled, in a junk yard, but some of the parts are still re-usable due to not having damage on them.

  • What is Waterborne Paint?

Waterborne paint is a high solids product where water is the carrier of the color instead of solvents. It reduces Hazardous Waste and volatile emissions by up to 80%. Waterborne paint improves the air quality for the work environment and for the community here in Webster. Waterborne paint’s color match is excellent, and we are proud and confident to use Waterborne products here at our shop.

  • Do you offer a lifetime warranty on your repair work?

Yes, we do. We guarantee the repair work performed by our technicians for as long as you own the vehicle. No questions asked. If a part we replaced goes defective for any reason, we would contact where we purchased it from to get a warranty on their part. If something happens to the body work we perform, or theres a paint issue that arises, please give us a call to stop by and address the problem together. We are here for you and stand by our work!

  • How long will it take you to fix my car?

It’s very hard to say until we write a complete repair plan. We go over all the details with you while writing up the damage. If we need replacement parts, we order them before you drop your vehicle off, so we’re ready to start repairs on the day that you drop it off. We try to get you in and out as quickly and efficiently as possible. After a full disassembly, finalizing our repair plan with the insurance company, checking on additional parts, then we can give a proper completion date. The process can be slow in the beginning, but once everything is finalized with the insurance company, its smooth sailing from there. We try to be as thorough as possible with explaining the repair, and how the process works.
